Home 2 Taiwan, Take Home Taiwan
From Workers to Specialists: Home 2 Taiwan Launches Bayanihan and Taiwanihan Collaboration for Philippine Nation-building

KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan — In a landmark move to redefine the role of the Filipino diaspora in the global tech economy, Home 2 Taiwan (H2TW) has officially unveiled a strategic framework to transition Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) into Overseas Filipino Specialists (OFS). During a fellowship dinner held on 14 March 2026, a diverse group of 23 migrant workers, scholars, and community leaders gathered to launch a new era of Taiwanihan through the Home 2 Taiwan, Take Home Taiwan initiative.
This social governance movement, led by Dr. Eing-Ming Wu, President of the Edu-Connect Southeast Association Taiwan, alongside H2TW conveners Ms. Janelle Ebron (VINTA Coordinator in Kaohsiung) and Mr. Rodolfo Emperado (Co-founder of Bayanihan Lab Network), centers on a groundbreaking collaboration with the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) through its development of Semiconductor Microcredential Courses designed to equip learners with specialized technical skills. H2TW aims to optimize the symbiotic relationship between the Philippines and Taiwan, transforming little progress into collective engine for regional growth and Philippine nation-building.
The diversity of the attendees underscored the growing influence of the Filipino community across various sectors. Representatives from academic institutions such as National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism, Shu-te University, and the Association of Young Filipino Scholars joined members of the UP Alumni Association and the Immaculate Conception Church in Tainan. The presence of civil society groups like Spouses of Taiwan and TeamSnapCrew as well as industries like Chiamin Steel further illustrated the multifaceted nature of the collaboration.
The launch received significant support from Mr. Peter Lai, President of the Linhai Industrial Park Manufacturers Association, who co-hosted the dinner together with the Edu-Connect Southeast Association Taiwan.
