Filipino Scholars Join the Yuan Ye Awards 2026
Filipino scholars and students in Taiwan participated in Kaohsiung’s Yuan Ye Awards to study sustainable urban governance, green infrastructure, and smart city planning which fosters cross-border collaboration to bring actionable innovation back to Philippine local governments.
Filipino students and scholars in Taiwan joined the Yuan Ye Awards as part of a learning delegation organized by Edu-Connect Southeast Asia Taiwan and the Bayanihan Lab Network from September 4-9, 2026.
Under the theme "Learning Mission on Sustainable Architecture, Urban Governance, and Livable Futures," the delegation spent a week studying Kaohsiung City’s green infrastructure, smart city initiatives, and community-driven urban planning. The program aimed to foster cross-border collaboration and identify actionable governance strategies for Philippine local government units.
Home 2 Taiwan (H2TW) and the Association of Filipino Scholars in Taiwan (AFST) - South emphasized the crucial role of youth in regional progress. By bringing together skilled Filipino scholars, both organizations seek to build strong cross-border networks and advance human capital development in both the Philippines and Taiwan.
